Author Guidelines
The rules for authors were developed based on the recommendations of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, international associations: Committeeon Publication Ethics (COPE), Council of Science Editors (CSE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), European Medical Writers Association ( EMWA), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), World Medical Association (WMA) and Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research (EQUATOR), as well as recommendations of the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (ASEP).
The journal "Bulletin of Maternal and Infant Protection" publishes original scientific articles presenting scientific reviews and the results of experimental and clinical studies conducted in the field of biomedical sciences, clinical and preventive medicine, materials describing clinical cases.
The general criteria for publishing articles in the journal "Bulletin of Motherhood and Infancy Protection" are relevance, novelty of the material and its value in theoretical and/or applied aspects.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Conditions for consideration of manuscripts
1.1. The manuscript is considered by the editors only if it is formatted in accordance with the requirements of the journal.
1.2. The manuscript materials should not contain research results previously published or intended for publication in other journals. All manuscripts on the journal’s website are automatically checked in the Anti-Plagiarism system; The uniqueness of the article text must be at least 80%.
- Payment for publications
2.1. The cost of publications is 2000 rubles per author of the article (see the section "Publication Fees"). Full-time graduate students are published free of charge.
2.2. No royalties are paid to the authors of the published article. Copyright copies are not provided. The editors provide the opportunity to subscribe to the paper version of the journal (or to a specific issue of the journal) in which the article was published, at the request of the authors.
- Submission of manuscripts for consideration
The manuscript and additional files (including accompanying documents) are submitted for review via the journal’s website in electronic form. The author must register on the site and use the "Submit Article" tab.
The main file - the manuscript (title page, text of the manuscript with illustrations and tables, compliance with ethical principles, source of funding, acknowledgments (if necessary), list of cited literature) is formatted as one file in Open Office or Microsoft Word format (extension *.doc, *. docx). The file should be named after the surname of the first author of the manuscript (Ivanov. Text).
Attention! The manuscript must be carefully edited and proofread.
Before the title of the manuscript, its type (original research, clinical case, etc.) and the code of the scientific specialty of the Higher Attestation Commission are indicated.
Accompanying documents with original signatures, seals (if necessary) are attached to the letter in PDF format, recorded in separate files containing the name of the first author (Ivanov. Authors’ contribution; Ivanov. Figure 1)
Additional files (including accompanying documents) are accepted in Russian and/or English:
1) a covering letter (an official letter from the institution where the work was performed) addressed to the editor-in-chief of the journal (about 1 printed page). The letter must be signed by all authors indicated in the manuscript, and must also have a visa from the head of the institution (or deputy head) in which the work was carried out (Appendix 1);
2) consent of the author (co-author) to publish the article in the journal "Kuban Scientific Medical Bulletin" (Appendix 2);
3) consent to the processing of personal data of the author (co-author) (Appendix 3);
4) information about the authors (Appendix 4, see clause 6 “General requirements”);
5) the authors’ contribution to the writing of the article (Appendix 5, see clause 7 “General requirements”);
6) questionnaire for declaring a potential conflict of interest (Appendix 6, see clause 8 “General requirements”);
7) a copy of the ethical committee’s conclusion regarding the study (if necessary): Appendices 7, 8, 9 (see clause 2.1.10. “Special requirements”);
8) a copy of informed consent for publication of a description of a clinical case and photographic materials (if necessary);
9) electronic graphic images (graphs, flowcharts, etc.) and tables in editable PowerPoint and Excel format;
10) photographs, drawings and other images are submitted in electronic form in JPEG format with a resolution of at least 600 dpi and a size of at least 85x65 mm.
- Interaction between the journal and the author
4.1. Author responsible for correspondence with the editors of the journal
A corresponding author is the person responsible for interacting with the journal during manuscript submission, review, and the publication process. It is he who ensures that all technical requirements of the journal are met, such as providing detailed information about the authors, documents of approval from the ethical committee, documentation of clinical registration ical research, as well as documentation of conflicts of interest. The corresponding author is responsible for agreeing with the team of authors on all changes made to the text of the manuscript based on the results of its review and editing.
The corresponding author must be available throughout the manuscript submission and review process in order to respond to editorial requests in a timely manner. It should also be available after publication in order to respond to critical comments, requests from the journal editor to provide additional data or other information, if questions arise about the article after publication.
Attention! An author who uploads a manuscript to the website from his personal account is considered to be the author responsible for correspondence with the editors of the journal.
4.2. When an article is received by the editorial office of the journal "Bulletin of Maternity and Infancy Protection", the head of the editorial office conducts a preliminary check of the author's original article for compliance with formal requirements: compliance with the subject of the journal, requirements of the journal for the design of articles (title page, completeness and correctness of data, quality of illustrative material, design of bibliographic descriptions in the list of literature/references), the presence of non-original text, illegal borrowings, as well as the presence of accompanying documents.
At this stage, if inconsistencies are identified, the article may be returned to the author (authors) for revision with a request to eliminate errors or add missing data.
Also at this stage, the article may be rejected due to its non-compliance with the requirements of the ethics of scientific publications. The editors have the right to notify the management of the organization represented by the author about violations of the ethics of scientific publications.
Decisions made at the preliminary assessment stage are checked by the editor-in-chief (deputy editor-in-chief).
After a decision has been made on the proper formatting of the manuscript and compliance with the profile of the journal, the manuscripts are sent according to the profile of the article (material) for review by reviewers who are recognized experts on the subject of the publication.
4.3.Each article is sent to at least two experts. If different opinions about the manuscript are received, a third expert may be involved in the work. Manuscripts containing statistical data are reviewed by an expert in medical statistics (biostatistician) for the appropriateness and accuracy of statistical methods and statistical interpretation of results.
4.4. All peer-reviewed manuscripts are submitted for consideration to the Editorial Board/Council (or Bureau of the Editorial Board/Council), which makes a decision on publication. After making a decision on the admission of an article for publication, the Editorial Board determines the place of the article in terms of publications.
4.5. Commissioned articles (free of charge) written by invited researchers at the request of the journal's editors are accepted for publication in the journal "Bulletin of Motherhood and Infancy Protection". Published materials should be of interest to a wide range of researchers involved in the development and implementation of new medical technologies. According to the journal's policy, materials prepared by invited researchers are also considered impartially and undergo a standard peer review procedure, like articles by other authors.
Guest researcher privileges: the article is considered as a priority; The article is translated into English at the expense of the editors of the journal "Bulletin of Motherhood and Infancy Protection".
4.6. The editors of "Bulletin of Motherhood and Infancy Protection" reserve the right to stylistically edit and proofread the text of the article without additional approval from the authors. The final version of the text of the article must be agreed upon with the authors before submission for publication.
4.7. When a decision is made to revise the article, the reviewer's comments and comments are transmitted to the author. The editors of the journal "Bulletin of Motherhood and Infancy Protection" provide for three rounds of reviewing - this means that after the first decision to finalize the article, the author has two attempts to make changes on the recommendation of the reviewer or a reasoned refusal to do so. 4.8. When a decision is made to refuse publication of an article, the corresponding editorial decision is sent to the author.
On average, the number of rejected manuscripts is 56%.
- Language of the manuscript
Manuscripts from any country in Russian and/or English are accepted for publication in the journal. Articles by foreign authors in English can be published without translation into Russian (except for the title page).
- Information about the authors (Appendix 4; Example), containing the following information about all authors: 1) last name, first name, patronymic in full, including in English; 2) academic degree and title (if any); 3) position; 4) place of work (or study); 5) ORCID; 6) email address (e–mail).
If you don't have an ORCID number, you need to get it by registering on the website https://orcid.org/.
"Information about the authors" is signed by all authors of the article (!)
- Authorship
7.1. To establish authorship, the journal's editors recommend basing it on the authorship criteria as defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Persons who do not meet all required criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgments section.
7.2. When submitting a manuscript, you must provide information indicating the authors' contribution to the writing of the article (Appendix 5; Example).
- Conflict of interest
8.1. When submitting a manuscript, authors must provide a form for declaring potential conflicts of interest (Appendix 6; Example).
8.2. All authors are required to disclose in their manuscripts potential conflicts of interest that could be perceived as influencing the results or conclusions presented in the work.
8.3. The editors of the journal do not reject an article if there is a conflict of interest, but ask the authors to disclose it in the article.
8.4. If a conflict of interest is suspected, the journal's editors are guided by the editorial ethics algorithms of The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Borrowing
9.1. Authors must make sure that the data presented in the article is original; all studies by other authors cited in the work are accompanied by links to primary sources and included in the list of references.
9.2. The editors of the journal recommend that authors, before submitting a manuscript, independently evaluate the uniqueness of the article materials using specialized services https://www.antiplagiat.ru (for Russian-language texts) and http://www.plagiarism.org (for English-language texts).
9.3. It is not allowed to indicate fragments of borrowed text in the manuscript without indicating the original source. Plagiarism in all forms is unethical and unacceptable to the journal.
9.4. The editors of the journal reserve the right to check received manuscripts for plagiarism. Textual similarity of more than 20% is considered unacceptable and is grounds for refusal to consider the manuscript.
9.5. With significant and minor borrowings, the journal's editorial board acts in accordance with the recommendations of the International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Procedure for reviewing editor/reviewer decisions
If the author does not agree with the conclusion of the reviewer and/or editor or individual comments, he can challenge the decision. To do this, the author needs:
– correct the article manuscript according to the reasonable comments of reviewers and editors;
– clearly state your position on the issue under consideration.
Editors encourage the resubmission of manuscripts that could potentially be accepted but were rejected due to the need for significant changes or additional data collection, and are willing to explain in detail what needs to be corrected in the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication.
- Actions of the editors in case of detection of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data
In case of detection of dishonest behavior on the part of the author, detection of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, the editors are guided by the rules (COPE).
By “misconduct,” the Journal of Maternal and Infant Protection understands any actions by a scientist that include improper handling of objects of study or intentional manipulation of scientific information in such a way that it no longer reflects observed research, as well as behavior of a scientist that does not comply with accepted ethical and scientific standards. standards.
Maternal and Infant Health Journal does not define "misconduct" as honest errors or honest discrepancies in the design, conduct, interpretation or evaluation of research methods or results, or dishonesty unrelated to the scientific process.
- Correction of errors and retraction of the article
If errors are found in the text of the article that affect its perception, but do not distort the presented research results, they can be corrected by replacing the pdf file of the article and indicating the error in the article file itself and on the article page on the journal’s website.
If errors are found in the text of the article that distort the research results, or in the case of plagiarism, or dishonest behavior of the author (authors) associated with falsification and/or fabrication of data is detected, the article may be retracted. The initiator of a retraction of an article can be the editors, the author, an organization, or a private individual.
A retracted article is marked with the “Article Retracted” sign, and information about the reason for the retraction of the article is posted on the article page. Information about the retraction of an article is sent to the databases in which the journal is indexed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The editors of the journal "Bulletin of Maternal and Infant Protection" recommend that authors use checklists and diagrams developed by international organizations in the field of health (EQUATOR, Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research) when preparing original articles and other materials.
(!) Articles that do not meet the editorial requirements will not be accepted for consideration.
(!) If potential authors have questions regarding the formatting of the article, the editors are ready to provide advice.
